Making the creative days count

Day 44, 45, 46 (Year of Creative Habits):

Day 44: Saturdays are often full activities, this week was no exception. It’s become my “habit” to fill the morning with some creative expression. This weekend was cold and bright, the perfect backdrop for knitting my off-white wrap. The super-bulky yarn begs to be a little longer. Too bad I’ve started and ripped up this piece a couple of times.

Day 45: Valentine’s Day was quiet, starting with a first Sunday of Lent church service. Our minister shared this quote from Dorothy Butler Bass, “We yearn to see our lives matter.” At age 50 that is so appropriate. I feel I’m entering the second half of my profession life, past the time of making a name for myself and now looking to make that name count.

Day 46: I’m uncertain how many times over the past 18 months I’ve driven the Neosho/Washington, Mo., route on I-44. You can recount a Mile Marker (MM) and I can tell you what landmark you’re near. I have the trip down to the exact number of podcasts, cups of coffee and bags of popcorn required. …and yet every Monday I’m a little simple by the end of the day. Road weary. Mandala to the rescue
